San Giovanni Rotondo used to be an agricultural village but, currently, it is a destination of many religious pilgrimages. It is the village where Padre Pio da Pietralcina lived, from July 28th, 1916, and died, September 23th, 1968, the humble friar proclaimed Saint on June 28th, 2002.
